Ice Lantern

Here’s What You Need:

  • Food coloring
  • Glitter pipe cleaners (2 to 3 are needed per lantern)
  • Plastic cups (1 large and 1 small)
  • Pom-poms
  • Small rocks
  • Tape
  • Tea candle
  • 1 cup of water

Here’s What You Do:

  • Put four drops of food coloring in the cup of water and stir
  • Bend two of the glitter pipe cleaners into circles, and fit each inside the bottom of the large plastic cup
  • Add your pom-poms to the cup after the pipe cleaners are placed inside
  • Tape the remaining glitter pipe cleaners on the outside of the small plastic cup
  • Pour your food coloring and water mixture into the large plastic cup
  • Take the small rocks and pour them inside the small plastic cup to help weigh it down, and carefully place the small cup inside the larger one
  • Place the large cup (with the small cup and water inside) into the freezer for a few hours until the water freezes
  • Remove the small cup from the large cup, and pop out the newly formed ice lantern from inside the large cup
  • Place the ice lantern on a plate (with the opening facing up), and then put the tea candle inside it.

Light the candle to start the holidays in a festive mood.
