fueled by going for it

You have nothing to lose...

You have nothing to lose...

When was the last time you really took a chance, shook up your life and did something completely out of the ordinary? Maybe you’ve been waiting for the opportunity, some unforeseen day, that would feel like the right one to disrupt the mundanity of your daily routine. Isn’t it about time you went for broke and really lived a little?

But when is the right time? The time is now. April 5 is National Go For Broke Day, the day you’re finally going to go for it — whatever “it” is.

Petroleum-based products allow us to push our limits, test our will, explore our world and dare to do something that stirs our restless spirit.

Here are some ways to go for broke on April 5 or — why wait? — right now!

Track Time

Let’s face it, there’s something cathartic about driving. Hit the gas; the car moves. Push a little harder; it moves a little quicker. Fun stuff. But the faster you drive, the more dangerous it can be. Plus, you’re probably not as good at it as you think you are. What if I told you there’s a place right around the corner where you can legally drive at otherwise illegal speeds — and learn how to do it in a controlled and safe environment? For those of you who love to drive but aren’t self-described gearheads, you might be surprised to learn there are racetracks that host all kinds of events, workshops and classes. Look it up. Book it up. Tear it up.

Dive In

Attain different heights. Discover new depths. Unleash your inner voyager. Learning how to scuba dive is an opportunity to connect with nature and immerse yourself in a quiet, dark, strange world. Wearing a wet suit is transformational in and of itself. With flippers and oxygen, you’re ready to let gravity go and discover the wondrous world of water. You can take your first lesson at a local pool. Nothing is stopping you from signing up today.

On the other hand, flying 18,000 feet into the air, opening the door, and jumping out sounds crazy. Because it is. But the overwhelming sense of adrenaline you feel when you’re hurling toward the earth in a helmet, jumpsuit and goggles is unlike anything else this planet has to offer. Then, when you pull the rip cord and your parachute catches the air, you’ll experience a sense of free-floating freedom while taking in incomparable views…having the time of your life.

Hit the Road

Take a week off. Throw some stuff in a suitcase. Fill up the tank. Make a playlist. Start driving. No, you don’t need a destination. You’ll figure it out along the way. Yes, it really is that simple. Just go.

Front Row or Fine Dining

There’s a restaurant in your town that you’ve never been to because you just can’t wrap your head around the inevitable shock you’ll feel when the bill comes. Still, you’re curious. You’ve heard amazing things. You’ve seen photos on social media, and you’ve wondered if that one dish really tastes as good as it looks. You’re ready to find out what it’s like to be waited on by a team of four and why that drink menu is pricier than the place you’d normally go to celebrate. Just do it. Once. Why not? You don’t even have to go with anyone. Throw on some very nice clothes, and take yourself out for a very nice meal. You may never know a meal like that again. Savor every bite. Swish every sip. And leave a very gracious tip.

Maybe the culinary arts truly don’t do it for you — that’s cool. But what does? Music? Theatre? Comedy? There’s a show coming to town that you’d love to see live. The kind of show that makes you keep your ticket stubs in some special place. The kind of concert that makes you feel nostalgically giddy. But there it is again — the financial hit. If you’re even remotely concerned about that, chances are you’re at least somewhat fiscally responsible. That's to be commended — and celebrated. So commend yourself and celebrate your savings by copping those tickets. While you’re at it, you might as well get the best seats possible. Years from now, you won’t regret it. Every time you look at those stubs, you’ll be transported back to that moment. Nobody will ever be able to take that away from you.

Open Up

You’re funny and you know it. Start writing down your best stuff. Maybe you already have. If so — high five. Or you’ve always been a better singer than most people. You’re a karaoke star. Your morning commute is a concert for an audience of one. It’s time to take it to the stage. Open mic night. Yes, you’ll be nervous…but you’ll be marvelous.

Your journey starts on the stage.

Get Inked

It’s 2018 — tattoos don’t represent the social taboo they did back in the day. Around the world, tattoos play an interesting role in culture. From person to person and tattoo to tattoo, getting inked offers an intimate and creative form of self-expression, remembrance and personal aesthetic. Artists are better than ever. Studios are cleaner than ever. And the ink tattooists are using — some of which incorporate fascinating uses of petroleum based products — maintains color longer than ever. Pick a design. Go small. Research artists at reputable studios. Sit down. Take a deep breath. Get lost in the sound of the machine. If you’ve been thinking about doing it — and we know you’ve been thinking about it — now’s the time.

Call Up The One Who Got Away.
