Fueled By Freakshows

Looking for something extra spooky to do this Halloween? Well, jump in the car and check out these cool cities that are going all out this October.

Detroit, Michigan —Theatre Bizarre

Known as “The Greatest Masquerade on Earth,” Theatre Bizarre is a huge annual event that includes music, burlesque, freak shows and art. Hosted in a beautiful old gothic building, party goers can expect a late night of oddities and elaborate mystery. Costumes are definitely mandatory (photo from Theatre Bizarre, Detroit, MI).

St. Helens, Oregon — Halloweentown, USA

The small town of St. Helens, Oregon, celebrates Halloween all month. Inspired by a movie that was shot in St. Helens in 1998 called “Halloweentown,” the city has been going all out ever since. This year will feature an alien crash site, a walk through the underworld and scarecrows that creepily come to life.

New York, New York — Village Halloween Parade

Every Halloween, 50,000-plus paraders take part in a three-hour festival in the West Village. Anyone can participate in the parade as long as they’re in costume. There are also more than 50 bands from around the world as well as dancers, giant puppets, artists, drag queens and thousands of New Yorkers in creative outfits who march down Sixth Avenue.

New Orleans, Louisiana — "The Most Haunted City in America"

Second only to Mardi Gras, the NOLA Halloween festivities include haunted house tours, elaborate costumes, street parties, voodoo music and lots of... ahem... adult entertainment.

San Antonio, Texas — Annual Zombie Walk

Just after dark, hundreds of undead shuffle through the streets of San Antonio in search of brains. The mob heads toward the Alamo, where food, drinks, live music and fun await.
