This slime eats metal!

Making slime never gets old. There are so many awesome ways to customize DIY slime — whether it's creating fun colors or making it glow in the dark or sparkle with glitter. There’s always a STEAM-y example or two to learn when making slime, but this magnetized variation might provide the coolest scientific lesson yet!

Magnetic Slime

Here’s What You Need:

  • 1/4 cup of liquid starch
  • 1/2 cup of white glue
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 neodymium magnet
  • 1 plastic or rubber spatula
  • 3 small bowls or beakers
  • 4 tablespoons of black iron oxide powder

Here’s What You Do:

  • Pour white glue and black iron oxide into the large mixing bowl
  • Stir with spatula until totally combined
  • Pour the liquid starch into the bowl
  • Stir until mixed
  • Using your hands, pull and stretch the mixture until the ideal consistency is reached and slime is formed
  • Place the neodymium magnet close to the slime
  • Manipulate the slime or let it consume the magnet
  • Impress your friends
